IS0 14001 Environmental Certification
Tensar meets ISO 14001 environmental standards
As part of the company’s continuing investment of resources into improved production processes, Tensar International’s main manufacturing site – in Shadsworth, Blackburn – has been certified as ‘Operating an Environmental Management System which complies with the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2004; the Certificate No. is EMS 86463.
As Tensar supplies its geogrids for soil reinforcement and ground stabilisation projects where the environmental considerations are often significant, having this prestigious accreditation is highly important.
Having good ‘green’ credentials helps when we are demonstrating to a client how to save on use of environmentally scarce materials, or achieve high quality results which are sensitive to the location. For example, we have done some recent restoration work on important salmon and sea trout rivers in Scotland and Wales, where they run through old industrial and colliery workings.
With a manufacturing process, which is based on polypropylene as a raw material, it was very important to demonstrate full environmental responsibility. Our continued investments into improving recycling and best site practices have really paid off.
