Mike is a geotechnical engineer and chartered engineer with 35 years experience working in consultancy, specialist geotechnical companies and manufacturing. This experience covers many aspects of geotechnical engineering, including site investigation and laboratory testing, and most recently reinforced soil and geosynthetics, with 25 years spent working in the Asia Pacific region.
Mike joined Tensar in 1991 as Area Manager for SE Asia & Australasia based in Kuala Lumpur, then later as Regional Manager for Asia Pacific after moving to Jakarta, Indonesia. In recent years the majority of Mike's work has centred more on application technology, including the development of design methods and Tensar's software for both stabilisation and reinforced soil design. He is the vice president of the Indonesian Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) and also the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Country Representative for Indonesia, as well as on the Editorial Advisory Panel of the Proceedings of ICE (Geotechnical Engineering).
