Paved Roads and Paved Areas
Reduce costs and carbon footprint
There’s more emphasis than ever on making big savings on project costs, time and carbon emissions. And when building new roads and parking areas, particularly over soft sub grades, Tensar has the answer. Tensar TriAx® geogrid’s 360° tensile stiffness and triangular apertures lock the fill aggregate particles in place, creating a mechanically stabilised layer with outstanding performance under traffic loading. It means the depth of aggregate layers can be dramatically reduced, sometimes by up to 50%, and in some cases so can the depth of excavation and volume of spoil. Multi-layers of TriAx® can also be used to minimise differential settlement over variable ground.
Tensar has developed powerful TensarPave™ software to enable designers to arrive to the optimum solution for specific project conditions.
More road for your maintenance budget
With limited budgets, there’s also more need to increase value for money in road maintenance. The simple answer? Include steps to reduce the amount of future maintenance during road construction or repair. That’s where Tensar can help. Using TriAx® geogrids to mechanically stabilise unbound layers of new roads and asphalt reinforcement products for overlays, widening and repairs, our products are proven to improve long term durability, reduce asphalt fatigue and reflective cracking and lengthen maintenance intervals.
The benefits
With over 30 years’ experience on projects worldwide, the proven benefits of Tensar’s systems can include:
- Reduced unbound aggregate layer thickness
- Increased bearing capacity
- Reduced excavation
- Lower long-term costs
- Lower site CO2 emissions
- Reduced reflective and fatigue cracking
- Extended pavement structural life
-
TensarPave software for optimized designs
Where Tensar can help
Tensar Technology addresses key areas in road building and maintenance:
Structural improvement
using TriAx geogrids to mechanically stabilise the unbound pavement layers over weak subgrade soils
Asphalt reinforcement
to control fatigue cracking, surface rutting and reflective cracking from underlying jointed concrete slabs or cracked cement bound bases
